As a Sports Therapist my goal is to get your body feeling and functioning at its optimum level. Sports Therapy is not just for Elite athletes, everyone can benefit from it!
If you have or do suffer from aches and pains then don’t suffer in silence. Many problems can be cleared up in one or two sessions and you can get back to feeling how you should, how your meant to! This is a brief description of what to expect from you first appointment with myself.
When we first meet I want to get an idea of the type of physical activity that you put yourself through in day-to-day life so initially we will talk about your daily routine and exercise routine. We will then more on to a brief medical history to see which areas may be causing you problems.
The second part of the treatment is a Functional Movement Screen and assessment this is where I look at how your body moves and reacts to a series of movements in a controlled environment. From this i will be able to start seeing the areas that we need to work on.
After this we will go through to the treatment room where we will start to work on the Muscles, Joints and Bones that will start the healing process. This forms the main part of the treatment time and can include a variety of techniques including Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Acupuncture, Spinal Manipulations, Neuro muscular technique or stretching exercises. (Please see the Treatments Page for more details on each)
Finally I will prescribe you some exercises or stretches to do at home which will speed up your recovery or strengthen areas that I feel are needed to create a balance in your body. I am looking to optimise your body’s ability to create a homeostasis of stability, mobility and flexibility.
